Rich in lanolin, breathable for even warmth Bred in the harsh conditions of a small Dutch island in the North Sea, the pedigree Texeler sheep produce an exceptionally high quality long crinkled wool fibre, rich in lanolin. With its ability to store air, the wool very quickly adapts to the body temperature and provides an ideal exchange of warmth. And as Texeler wool naturally absorbs the body's perspiration it allows the skin to breathe ... providing exceptional sleeping comfort in a warm, dry environment. These 'special' underblankets were originally hand made by a Mrs Boersen-Kooijbyn at her home in Texel, where they were found, perhaps because of their exceptionally high lanolin content, to be particularly beneficial for rheumatism and arthritis sufferers. These natural benefits of wool are now generally accepted and the soft, yet firm, base provided by the fleece (as used in hospitals) distributes the body's weight and provides natural relief for aching muscles and joints. Hypoallergenic, dirt repellant and long lasting Hypo-allergenic and highly durable, the fleece from the Texeler sheep is naturally tough and resilient and remains in good shape for many years without breaking or flattening of the fibres. Rich in lanolin, these wool underblankets are naturally water resistant and non-flammable in addition to being naturally dirt and stain repellant, which is why airing the underblanket regularly will be sufficient to keep it clean and fresh ... although as a last resort it can be dry cleaned if necessary. |
